When our lives open up to start a family, it can be frustrating to watch the time tick by… It is estimated that as many as 15% of all couples are infertile. Unfortunately, with all the tests and information available today, the cause is still often not known. My colleagues and I have had great success with acupuncture. A study reported in 2002 by the medical journal Fertility and Sterility showed that the use of acupuncture increases the chance of pregnancy for women undergoing in-vitro fertilization (IVF). By adding acupuncture before and after the embryo transfer, pregnancy rates increased from 26.3% to 42.5%. This research infers that the healing power of an ancient tradition, combined with the cutting-edge technology of IVF, may help improve results. At our center, our goal is to help couples achieve pregnancy by serving as an adjunct to traditional medical care. If you are struggling with infertility, you may want to try acupuncture and other types of bodywork, proper nutrition, exercise and relaxation. Search for a physician who will walk beside and support you through this sometimes-challenging path.
